MORE SCHOOL CROSSING SIGNS
City of Northglenn still needs to take careful consideration for the number and amount of school crossing signs we need. The Schools and Cross Walks are constantly asking for more signs, better visibility and yes the cross walk signs that have flashing lights to warn cars when the cross walks are in use. The worry of many Crossing Security personnel is that of speeding cars not noticing the crosswalks and putting school children at risk. Some streets near schools offer a strait road that allows motorists to achieve higher than posted speed before they get to the cross walk and for some reason seem not to care there are pedestrians in the crossing.
Under my watch. Conditions will improve and a review of the budget will be done to improve school crossing and install of light signals should be done. Streets should be upgraded to prevent the risk of speeders around crossing sections and awareness to motorists must be more visible to ensure crossing safety at the schools. If there was more light signals at crossings in Northglenn the driving public would be more aware and considerate of pedestrian crossings in the city as a whole. I've only seen a few light signals for crossings and because the city only installed a few and most of the motorists simply aren't aware. One of my jobs as Mayor will be to improve over all safety at pedestrian crosswalks around the schools.
