VETERAN'S OF THE US ARMED SERVICES

I like many US Veteran's of the US Armed Services had the Courage to Honor our Commitment to the defense of this nation.  Many Gave Honor and earned their 5 points. Others gave Honor and a little more of them selves in body, in mind, and in spirit and earned their 10 points.  The Best paid with their very lives in the Defense of this nation and thus insuring your freedoms.  Veteran's don't expect much.  We do not seek pity we just ask for your mutual respect.  In the Military there are many difficult jobs that are essential to this nations freedom.  We faced challenges every day at the tip of the spear.  We worked in dangerous and hazardous environments we did not enjoy.  We take our oaths of service seriously, we salute a flag that never salutes in return.  Just waves and that's good enough for veterans.

Veteran's are not tough we are not weak we are simply human volunteers with a high sense of duty to our country.  Often veteran's are expected to live up to a higher caliber that is unrealistic when we return home to our civilian lives.  Many civilian's do not realize that in the military we were never really held to a higher expectation.  We are human we are your family members, children, spouses, and the friends and people you know in your towns and your cities.  We have no special gifts or super powers.  Veteran's often end up in environments that can break ones soul.  Veteran's would like you to know we are just your equal and would like our right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness be granted because we earned it the hard way.

I know many veteran's in the City of Northglenn and that number increases everyday.  I grew up with many in Northglenn who served in the Army, Navy, Marines, and Airforce.  I have lost friends I knew in High School to military engagement's in foreign wars.  I have found veteran's in life that suffer from PTSD, injuries they sustained and long term disabilities.  I myself was forced to question my own DD-214 and my service by a maliciously hateful Homeland Security in Utah that wanted to deny my status as a Veteran.  Demanded to see my DD-214 over 14 separate times while I worked for them because they wanted to hold me to unrealistic expectations of employment beyond the standards of other ordinary employees.  The system itself and government executive management messed with me by denying me recognition for my medals and veteran status of my forward deployed service to defend this nation.  That one day the State of Colorado DMV printed it right on my Drivers License.  It was indeed a proud day for me for I no longer had doubt about the value of my service to this country.

Here in Colorado I am grateful to a state that recognizes the sacrifice of those who served in the Military.  Colorado does respect honorable veteran's better than other states.  Even though I faired better at the DMV than some other veteran's I had spoken too in Northglenn that tell me they are still waiting for their drivers license in the mail.  As a veteran I've been able to work with the DMV and I know as a City Council member I will be able to better assist other Veteran's and Families who are having difficulty in the City of Northglenn.  My door is always open to other service veterans and I will do what I can to aid and assist veteran's.  For a Veteran's service is always above par no matter what.
